New Hampshire became the ninth state of the United States when it ratified the Constitution on June 21, 1788. Despite the strong biblical foundation upon which this state and country were founded, the entire New England region has grown spiritually cold to the things of the Lord. But revival CAN happen!
When Jonathan Edwards preached his now-famous sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” on July 8th, 1741, in Enfield, Connecticut, he was keenly aware of the spiritual decline and coldness to the gospel in his congregation and throughout New England at that time. Edwards preached his sermon in the unemotional, solemn style of his day, but the response of the congregation and other hearers was an outcry to God resulting in a great revival that would change the course of America for generations to come. Historical accounts state that Edward’s descriptive imagery so intensely revealed the truth of both God’s love for man and His severe judgment for sin that people came under deep conviction of the Holy Spirit and were literally falling prostrate in the aisles unable to move.
The desire of Edwards’ heart was to see a spiritual revival, and it came.
When we consider New England today, we cannot but see how desperately another great revival is needed.
Bible Way Baptist Church desires to see God once again glorified and exalted in His churches and among His people. Our vision is to see New Hampshire and all of New England revived once again and on fire for the Lord Jesus Christ. Our desire is to see, as a result of God’s people being revived, many souls saved and made disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
